Dear friends and supporters,
Many people have asked over the course of the last few weeks whom I support in the runoff election between Lori Bush and Jennifer Robinson. This has not been an easy decision to make. I think they are both strong candidates and will do a productive job for the people of Cary.
Because of my participation in this election many items have come to the forefront. Discussions are now centering on the need for intergovernmental communications, the needs of our families, infrastructure, changes in our schools and our business community. I continue to support a “go local” campaign and believe that we need to encourage local businesses to support each other. This is a theme that Mrs. Bush has supported and is planning to follow.
For many years I have worked for the families of Cary. I have been involved with multiple groups who pleaded with the school board to change policies that no longer serve their purpose. In all of the meetings I have attended and where I have spoken there was little public involvement by most of the Cary Town Council. Mrs. Robinson was not in attendance at any of these meetings. After having discussions with our current Cary Mayor and several Town Council representatives, Mr. Weinbrecht finally became outspoken and used his voice to express concern over the way the citizens of Cary were being treated by the school board. Neither of the current candidates for Town council district A has been involved in the school issues. Only one of them is an elected official and needed to be a voice for the parents of Cary.
I ran for Town Council because we need a change. Cary needs a change: someone who will listen to the residents of Cary, represent Cary to other municipalities, and be a voice for the community. I still feel that Cary needs that change. Mrs. Robinson has not supported the changes we need in the schools and has criticized other leaders in our community for trying to be instrumental in change. I recently met with Mrs. Bush and we discussed Cary and its future. I have struggled with the decision of whom I now support. I have decided that Cary is still in need of change and reelecting Mrs. Robinson is NOT going to provide that. Supporting Mrs. Bush will result in needed change for the Town of Cary.
There is so much on the line with this election. I know that my decision to support Mrs. Bush will be one that upsets many people. It is a decision I have grappled with and take seriously. Thank you Mrs. Robinson for all that you have done for Cary in the past. It is time to create a new future for Cary and I see Mrs. Bush leading the way.
Sincerely,
Cindy Sinkez
